| The rocks surrounding the anchorage are clearly
shown. Castle Cornet has been built on the islet and a small harbour wall is
in evidence, with what appears to be a proposed parallel development
to the north. The plan comes from the results of a survey of the Channel Islands ordered by King Charles II, now often referred to as the Legge Report. The survey was undertaken by Sir Bernard de Gome and Thomas Philips, under the orders of Colonel George Legge, Lieutenant General of His Majesties Ordnance. The modern harbour works are shown as a dotted outline, superimposed over the 1680 map. |
